What is tallow?
It’s the skincare secret your great-grandma used while the rest of us were busy using man-made lotions that sound more like a chemistry experiment. Long ago, our ancestors used this silky animal fat for their skin, but then we traded it for cheap chemicals. Who knew getting glowing skin could get so complicated?
Why do you use tallow?
Think of tallow as the "wise old sage" of the prairie. It’s better than those flashy lab-made creams that popped up in the 1900s. Tallow is packed with nature’s very own vitamins (A, D, E, and K)—nutrients your skin actually knows how to use. It’s also loaded with healthy fats that help soothe and strengthen your skin. When it comes to feeding and fixing dry skin, no plant-based lotion even comes close. After all, we’re humans, not salad ingredients!
Where do you obtain your tallow?
We make our tallow from beef suet (the best part of the fat). We use a slow, low-heat process to keep it fresh and full of goodness. Our suet comes from 100% grass-fed cows, which means better quality for your skin.
Why do you include essential oils?
Our Tallow Balms are like a breath of fresh trail air in a jar! Each oil is picked to help your skin feel great. And the smells? Each blend is so refreshing it might just make your nose do a happy dance. We use only the highest-quality, pure oils because your skin deserves the best.
Where can I apply Tallow Balm?
It’s the "multi-tool" of the frontier! Why carry a dozen different lotions when you can use this for everything? Use it on dry feet, chapped hands, a thirsty face, or even those dry eyelids. Tallow Balm has your back—and everything else.
It’s even great for keeping your "kisser" (lips) soft! It’s like a cozy wool blanket for your skin. Plus, a little dab in your hair can give you a shine that would make a show pony jealous.
How do I apply it for dry skin?
- Clean up: Wash your skin and pat it dry, but leave it a little bit damp.
- Warm it up: Scoop a tiny bit and rub it between your fingers until it melts.
- Rub it in: Massage it into your skin anywhere it feels dry or itchy.
- Let it ride: Give it a few minutes to soak in. No need to wash it off—it’s working its magic all day.
What is the shelf life?
Our balm is like a fine cheese—best enjoyed before the "best by" date on the bottom! But don't worry, our ingredients are built for the long haul. Because we use pure oils, these jars stay fresh for a long time. Just keep your jar in a cool spot away from the heat. If you're saving a jar for later, you can even keep it in the fridge to stay fresh for years.
Which Tallow Balm should I use?
You can't go wrong! Since grass-fed tallow is the star of every jar, any "flavor" you pick will work wonders. Just pick the scent that you like best. You can even use our balm as a base and add your own favorite oils on top!
What if I have a reaction?
Even though it's rare, everyone's skin is different. If your skin doesn't like it, stop using it right away and let us know. If you have very sensitive skin, try "Plain Jayne" (our unscented version). Sometimes, your skin just needs a few days to "adjust" to pure, natural ingredients after years of using chemical lotions. We’re here to help you through it!
